Art in the Garden: Lake Forest Park Secret Garden Tour 2019
Painting outside
What a great opportunity it was to be a part of the Lake Forest Secret Garden Tour! Each year, six neighborhood formal gardens are chosen and are paired with a working artist and musical guest. I got very lucky with a lovely family that had such a wonderful outside space, and even had a natural creek running right though the yard, complete with little arched footbridges.
I was delighted to learn that their son was a botanist, and had even planted a collection of carrots, nearby where I was painting. I felt so at peach painting my carrot around his friendly flower relatives.
I purchased a new easel and print rack for the occasion, and I was really pleased with their function. Throughout the morning I was able to paint, chat with the visitors on the tour, and talk about plants! It is not often that I am right where I needed to be, with plant-friends and those who appreciate growing things.
I hope to be a part of the tour again next year. It was a wonderful, easy day, and a portion of all sales went to benefit the Shoreline Arts initiative. I can’t thank them enough for inviting me. Until next time!
